Ballyhoo Refresh Version 1.3

Content management features in Ballyhoo Refresh Version 1.3 features include the ability to customise how sub-pages appear, improved error handling, the ability to add modules anywhere on the site and meta tag improvements.

Sub-Page Output Options

In the last version of Ballyhoo Refresh we added sub-page lists to parent pages. In this version we've added the ability for you to customise how sub-pages appear on a page-by-page basis.

Options for outputting sub-pages include:

  • list: a simple unordered (bullet point) list of links to the sub-pages
  • thumbnails: shows a thumbnail of an image uploaded to the sub-page along with a text link
  • blog: shows the image thumbnail, the created date and an excerpt from the page content
  • none: hides sub-pages completely

Add Modules Anywhere

Extended modules (currently gallery pages or sitemaps) previously had to be set by the developer and could only be used once on the site. We've now given you the ability to add extended modules anywhere in the navigation, such as the main navigation or even as a sub-page of a sub-page of a sub-page!

When adding a new page you'll first be asked to choose a page type: Gallery, Content Page or Sitemap. You're also able to add the same module to multiple pages throughout the website.

Page Not Found

We have now styled 404 errors nicely to tie in with your website design. When you visit a web page that no longer exists you should be presented with a 404 Page Not Found error. This lets search engines know that there's nothing to see and also lets users know that there's an error with the website - not their internet connection or browser.

Home Page Meta Control

In version 1.2 we added customisable meta tags to the CMS. Unfortunately we weren't able to add the ability to edit meta tags on the home page too as there was a lot more involved than met the eye.

Happily, we've now added this functionality in this version of Ballyhoo Refresh you can edit the meta keywords and description on your home page any time you like.
